NBA, What Have You Taught Us Thus Far? Volume 5 "Rose For MVP"

Derrick Rose is the NBA MVP.  They said he couldn't be a high volume scorer, well, he is (dropping 42 on the Spurs last night was no easy task).  They said he couldn't run the offense like a conventional point guard, well, he is (averaging 8.2 apg).  They said he couldn't shoot the "J", well, he is & if you don't get up on you he will consistently burn you from the outside.  Derrick Rose has a complete game, but his best attribute might be his uncanny ability to finish at the rim.  He takes what is supposed to be punishment from a opposing defender & uses it against them while finishing with a strong, spectacular shot at the rim.  With injury related absences from Carlos Boozer & Joakim Noah at different points this season, Rose has the Bulls looking like a true contender in the East.

*Check Out Volume 6 "Melo, Melo, Melo"

Melo' Drama!

I think I can speak for most basketball fans, when I say, Can Denver please trade Melo already. This straight to DVD movie is dragging out worst than the movie Avatar. The ending to is story is only 72 hours away, but it's been a 6 month on again off again saga. The Nuggets really should stop pimping Melo and take what they can get because he will not sign an extension with them and they will get "Caved" if they don't trade for something in return, a la Cavs and Bron Bron. I tell you what does makes sense though, Melo and his professionalism. He has acted as if there was no sense of urgency to get a deal done and has not complained one bit in fact he has been pretty "Melo" about it. No pun intended.

To me the deal that makes the most sense is the Knicks deal because the nuggets aren't left to dry out there. They would get Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, and Danilo Gallinari with draft pick options. The deal with the Nets gets them heralded rookie Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, two role players, and that role being "bums", Ben Uzoh and Troy Murphy. The Nuggets would give away Billups, Melo, and 4 future first round picks. That deal sounds like something that is done on video games. When it is all said and done Melo wins no matter where he goes because he wanted out and I can't blame him, it's Denver, what the hell is there to do in Denver?

NBA, What Have You Taught Us Thus Far? Volume 4 "Don't Write Off The Lake-Show Just Yet"

 Do not worry about the Lake-Show.  What do we know about Phil Jackson teams on the brink of a 3-peat?  No matter what happens during season or what new favorites emerge, Phil Jackson teams get it done. Teams like the Knicks, Suns, Jazz & Kings have all had home court advantage against Phil Jackson led teams, but someway, somehow Phil gets enough out of his players to bring home the gold.  So what about this Laker team on their chances to making history?  Well, are they disinterested?  Absolutely.  LA doesn't just get beat bad by the elite, they get beat by the mediocre & the down-right awful, hello Cleveland.  This is the two-time defending champions looking for their fourth straight trip to the NBA Finals.  To not give up on them so easily.  Yeah, I know the Celtics, Spurs & Heat are the sexier picks right now, but it's February, not May, better yet, not June either.  LA is just as good on the road as they are at home.  Since Pau Gasol's arrival the Lakers have more road wins in the playoffs then anyone else in the league and that's no accident.  When you present the size they have on the front line along with the game's best player in Kobe Bryant, you never write them off, better yet, respect their "Gangsta", if you know what I mean of course.

NBA, What Have You Taught Us Thus Far? Volume 3 "The Heat Are Living Up To The Hype"

The Heat are living up to the hype.  The Heat will probably win 60 games this season.  Too much talent against the non-elite teams.  So much like the "LeBron led Cavs", Miami is pretty much guaranteed to finish with 1 of the top 2 seeds in the East.  Now Boston is the biggest threat in the East, but unlike Boston their are other teams Miami has to worry about...  Chicago & Orlando.  The Bulls are playing defense at a extremely high level, while the Magic present offensive problems for just about anybody in the league.  Miami "Big 3" should have enough to beat these teams in potential 7 game series, but they will have to step it up a few notches if they want to compete with Boston for 7 games.  It will take more than a "Big 3" to beat a "Big 4", I mean it's just mathematics.

NBA, What Have You Taught Us Thus Far? Volume 2 " The Big, Bad Celtics"

 The Boston Celtics are big, scary & hungrier than ever.  If the Celtics are healthy going into the playoffs, how can you not consider them favorites to win it all.  Now I'm a Lakers fan, but the proof is in the pudding.  The Lakers won game 7 on the boards.  How does Boston respond, by adding Shaq & Jermaine O'Neal to go alongside KG, Kendrick Perkins & Big Baby.  That's 5 huge bodies to throw at Bynum, Gasol & Odom.  The Celtics "Big 4" are playing at a high level to no one's surprise and all have been rewarded with an All Star appearance in Sunday's big game.  In the East, only The Miami Heat possess the talent necessary to challenge Boston in a 7 game series, but in the teams' 1st 3 meetings this season, Boston has bullied Miami and have kept Dwayne Wade in check while holding him to just 12 made baskets in 3 games totaling 37 points overall in the regular season series.  Now what does that tell us? Pencil-in Boston for their spot in The Finals, period.

LAKERS NEED MORE HELP THAHN YOU THINK!

The difference between this stretch of trouble for the Lakers and the past two seasons is that in the past there was always an obvious reason anytime they started to struggle it was because Of injuries. Bynum, Pau, and Kobe all missed games because of injuries and the Lakers would go on slides during those games. Right now this season the Lakers are one of the healthiest teams in the League, with only Matt Barnes missing out of the rotation. So, while they are still pretty good they are nowhere near Championship caliber. THAT'S why they need to worry, because even at full strength they are not looking that strong.

NBA, What Have You Taught Us Thus Far? Volume 1 "Welcome Back San Antonio Spurs"

 All Star 2011 is here people.  The NBA takes it's "Road Show" to Hollywood where Kobe, LeBron & D-Wade will showcase their "talents" to the world.  I want to review what got us to All Star Weekend and what we have to look for in June.

 First of all lets give credit where credit is due... Welcome back San Antonio Spurs!  With Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker leading the way with their elite play and up-tempo style offense, the Spurs look poised to claim the top spot in the West.  With Coach Popovich speeding up the offense instead of dropping the ball to soon to be Hall of Famer Tim Duncan possession after possession, the Spurs arguably have the most difficult offense to stop in the league.  It also helps that wing man Richard Jefferson has gotten comfortable with his roll with the team, knocking down clutch 3's in big-time situations.  Lets not forget the Spurs are deeper than ever while getting valuable contributions from young guns Gary Neal, George Hill, DeJuan Blair, Tiago Splitter & the veteran, Antonio McDyse.  The Spurs are back to championship form and have a very comfortable lead for home court through The Finals & do not be shocked if you catch the Spurs hoisting the Larry O'Brien Tropy at season's end.

Do these over paid baseball players ever have time to enjoy there money? I mean they are the "boys of the summer" and all but why do they end baseball in the fall and start in early spring? it doesn't make sense to me for one because outside of fielding a ground ball and catching a line drive, hitting a baseball is the only difficult part of this sport. I can't imagine why they have to play 160 some odd 3 plus hour games just to only send 6 of the 30 MLB teams to the playoffs. In the playoffs they play some really good baseball but the regular season and the elongated spring season has to be fixed.

This off-season two studs in the MLB where treated unfairly in my eyes by their respective teams during contract negotiations. Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees, who is hands down a Hall of Famer and maybe one of the best to put on pinstripes was actually told to test the free agency pool and see what you can get out there by Yankees GM Cashman. What a coward move by the Yanks, because you didn't have to rub it in his face that you guys was giving him the best offer out there. This guy is a bonafide gamer and great clubhouse guy, he did nothing but try and get paid like he felt he deserved.

Albert Pujols is hands down the best player in baseball and would love to see an argument otherwise. He goes in to this season with out a contract for the future. How the hell does that happen? I will tell you how, bad management. Puljos should have been given an extension last season and instead they paid Matt Holiday $126 million. What sense does that make? None. So now Albert goes into next fall with no contract and will test the small market of clubs that can afford his 10 year $300 Million asking price. Good luck with that Albert, I'm sure you will be a Cardinal again but the St. Louis management should be Bitch slapped for that one.

Who is the Nations top College Player?

Trying to find a favorite to win the Nation Championship is like trying to guess who hasn't slept with that chick you know from the down the block who was friends with your ex but slept with her brother. Basically it's just as open as she is. The top player in the nation isn't as difficult. My three main guys right now are doing things for their teams that needs to be done and the one to our left is just a Freshman. Jared Sullinger is having a big shoe deal type of a season. He is rebounding the ball like Chuck back in his Sixers or Suns days, which ever team was winning at the time, and can score on the block like a baby Shaq. The one flaw is he shoots free throws like a grown man Shaq. I have to admit though I like the kid and think he should be first pick in 2011 draft.

 Kemba Walker teased America with his first 10 games by averaging close to 29 points a game. He knocked off teams like Kentucky and Washington all by himself. That's one plus for Kemba in the Player of the year running because unlike Sullinger Kemba doesn't have much help. The big knock on Kemba is that he takes a lot of bad shots. True but what NBA guard doesn't take a lot of bad shots? I think he will improve come time for the big east tourney and Show out!

Every bodies favorite our boy JIMMER!! With a name like that he should win all awards. The biggest upside to his game is that he can only get better. The kid can shoot it from about 35 feet out and drive to the basket like a grown man. People want to knock his quickness and ball handling but Stockton was slow as hell and had one crossover move, Marc Jackson could not shoot and seemed to always be running in Timberland boots on the court but both of those guys got it done. Jimmer will be a NBA guard, lets just hope for his sake he slips to the later rounds and goes to a great team like Tony Parker. My vote is for, well lets just wait and see who WOW's me next week.

Lockout Looms huh?

Billionaires vs. Millionaires

Is the NFL really about to lockout over a couple bucks? Yea I said a couple bucks. They make these labor talks seem like a murder trial and if a verdict isn't reached all hell will break loose. I can't imagine not having a football season in 2011 for a few simple reasons. 1. No matter who gives in to what they will all still pretty rich and have more money than the average man. 2. What the hell would people do with themselves is there is no football on Sunday, Monday, and your occasional Thursday evening? RIOT!! and 3. The owners have a billion dollar T.V, contract out there that is covering their asses and the players no that so the bully being bullied mentality will not work for them.

All in all I cannot wait until this new CBA is done because sportscenter is becoming boring without the any talk of Free Agency in the NFL or trades. That is the fun off-season talk, outside the The Draft of course. Get it done fools and Get it done right so we won't be here again in 3 seasons!!

Lake Show is still Must See TV

The LA Lakers are looking like an old version of the new San Antonio Spurs. That might not make any sense but check it out, When the Spurs won there 3 Championships in the 2000's they never had the best record in the league for the whole season nor did the beat every team with an above .500 record, BUT when the playoffs came around they were a machine! Kind of like the Lake show last 2 seasons. The Lakers loss 7 of 9 before the playoffs started last season and if I'm not mistaken They Lakers have been blown out more than any other team above .500 in the the last few seasons as well. But they still manage to wake up when it counts and are working on their 2nd three peat in the last 12 seasons.

The world has an infatuation with the Lake show and every step they make, good or bad, is scrutinized. People want LA to fold and just admit defeat and say, " We suck and can't beat any good teams". Now I admit losing to the woefully Cavs is an embarrassing lost, but it happens people. Get off the I hate Kobe and I hate the Lakers bandwagon please. The playoffs aren't here yet and they have plenty of time to get it together. What does a game in mid-February actually mean? Absolutely Nothing!

DIVAS!!!

Braylon Edwards, Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco, Brandon Marshall, and Anquan Boldin, all of these pass catchers made press this off-season for various reasons but none are really stepping up to the plate NUMBERS wise. Chad got a couple of victories and B-Marshall is 3-0, but what have they done to warrant a new contract or trade to another team, these were the demands made this off-season. With the likes of Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Randy Moss, and rising star Vincent Jackson those Diva like Wide-outs, named earlier, will be out of the press and for T.O. sake maybe out of the league.

Ok so Anquan hasn't really said much since the season started but he is in my opinion bringing the Cardinals offense down a bit because there is no reason to not double Fitzy. B-Marshall has a case of the "Drips" and hasn't had a productive game yet, I know its early but it doesn't look good. Braylon has a QB issue so I'm going to cut him some slack, plus he is a Michigan boy. Ocho has a decent set of numbers but not high profile type numbers like Moss or Andre Johnson.

Terrell Owens was catch-less this pass sunday for the first time since 96', not surprised. He runs terrible Terrell routes and has a permeant case of the "Drips". His QB is not yet a proven NFL starting QB and is young, so dealing with a "WOMAN" like T.O. is probably like dealing with his college girlfriend.

At the end of the day, Produce, Produce, PRODUCE!!!!..if you can't do that shut-up!!

Fats Fab 5 Teams

1. New York Jets- With an emotional win over the Pats last week the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets might have a let down this sunday against the Titans who are in desperate need of their first victory. Coach Ryan is coaching the boys up and the Defense is allowing rookie QB Marc Sanchez grow slowly.

2. Baltimore Ravens- Strong running game and probably the defense in the NFL will keep the Ravens in the mix. Keep Flacco off the turf and they will be in the same spot they were in last season. This time maybe playing in the Bowl.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers- The first of my one lost teams in the fab 5. They had a lack luster performance against DA Bears, but will bounce back. When Polomalu returns all will come back to order for the defending Champs.

4. New England Patriots- A too close to call victory against the Bills and a tough loss to the Jets doesn't mean much in Week 3 of the NFL season. Pimp Tom Brady will be back to form once he gets his legs back and his WR's get healthy.

5. New York Giants- Eli is making the paper and on paper the G-MEN are looking good. The defense is banged up but still super bowl form. Only NFC team in the Fab 5 because after two weeks of football they are the only real NFC contenders right now.

Haz Diesel's NFL Elite Fab 5... Week 3

My opinion on who is the NFL's best teams going into Week 3...

1. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS - Anytime a team can average 46.5 ppg in their 1st 2 games to start the season, deserves to be the "Top Dog" of the best.

2. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS - As long as Peyton is running the show, if there is time left on the clock, this team will find ways to win.

3. BALTIMORE RAVENS - For the 1st time since the franchise has been in Baltimore, "The Original Browns" might have a potent offense to that can not only sustain drives, but with Flacco behind the helm, produce big plays. This team is scary.

4. NEW YORK GIANTS - Eli is playing big time football, the defense is playing OK, but not up to the expectations of most. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for the fact that they went 2-0 in the NFC East to start the season. Getting wins in that division are definitely hard to come by.

5. MINNESOTA VIKINGS - "AP", "Old Man Bret" & a suffocating defense. What more can I say. If this team can stay healthy they will be in the NFC Championship Game.

BROOKLYN STATE OF MIND

Not a fan of any of the Jersey pro squads but i do feel Jersey is getting the short end of the stick when it comes to pro sports. Giants and Jets play in New Jersey but since a decade or more ago they both don the title New York. No pro baseball team, a hockey team that is not a true main attraction, and the Nets are in northern NJ. This leaves all of south jersey to root for Philly teams because they are closer to Philadelphia than NY.

Now the only pro NBA team in NJ want to move to Brooklyn and build a state of the art Arena. There is all kind of facts and figures that says this makes sense but im opposed to the move. Outside of a Knicks vs. Nets rivalry, (Lame one at that), what good does a team in Brooklyn do for the league. Unless they get the new Russian owner to bank roll LeBron James and his entourage, then like Jay-Z says Brooklyn we go hard!

This move won't  give rapper Jay-Z more to rap about because he is truly and literally a minority owner. This move only works because of the deal made with Russian Millionare to buy 81percent of the franchise and foot the bill for the move. Can't say the NBA isn't an equal opportunity employer.
I guess NJ will have to continue living in the shadow of NY and that may be forever.


Keep God First

America's Team

Last year the wheels fell off of the Dallas Cowboys football team and people blamed the team's troublemakers as the reasoning behind the debacle. So in the offseason any player on the team with anything more then a traffic violation was given the boot. The team lost in the final game of the season and the last game of Texas stadium with a humiliating loss to the Baltimore Ravens. In came a new season and all of the excuses were off the team and the team opened up with a nice victory.

Next they had the opening of the new stadium with a playoff environment week 2 against division opponent New York Giants. Once again the Cowboys did not play up to their capabilities mostly on the offensive side of the ball. Most of the blame right away was given to Tony Romo and the fact that he cannot play in big games and that he had three interceptions in the game. I am not so sure that the majority of the blame should be anywhere close to the quarterback of this team even though he did play a factor into it cause he was the one throwing some very poor passes but he would be the second or third reason why on my list of reasons the Cowboys played so poorly.

If you look at this team they have three very good running backs, two solid tight ends, a decent receiving core even if Roy Williams is not living anywhere close to the amount JJ gave up to get him in Dallas, and an offensive line that is one of the best running lines in the league. My number one reason the team lost that game is due to offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. If you can gain over 200 yards against any team especially the Giants you don't just go away from running the ball and decide to throw it just because you feel like it. He should have ran the ball until the Giants had 9 men in the box and made them go three and out twice before he got away from running the ball.

This team should have had a two to one time of possession ratio to the Giants and should have only had to throw the ball 15 times in that game and that should have been due to the Giants adjusting to the heavy run. Garrett has one plan in his head and he is a former QB himself so this may be some of the reasoning why he likes to pass the ball so much but he needs to use what he has and that is one hell of a running team. Once he shows this to some teams then maybe he can open up some of his passing attacks and get the ball to some of these receivers. Until then Jerry Jones should really take a look at Jason Garrett instead of everyone else blaming Tony Romo.

Ballin' for Rings

With the NBA preseason coming up in a few weeks the main story is the replacement refs. I say damn that because no matter who the refs are the NBA players will still cry for calls and call out officials after games. Now their actions might be validated. But that's not what's on my mine. I want to know if Kobe is still going to be better than Lebron and will the old Vince show up in Orlando?

All kinds of moves made this off-season but none as interesting as the PRINCE of the crossover,(nobody can crossover like Tim Hardaway and I dear you to tell me different) Allen Iverson signing with the Memphis Grizzlies. This to me shows that all AI wants to do is play basketball and put up numbers like he did in Philly. He had chances to sign with contenders but didn't want to come off the bench and be a role player. Sorry AI thats basically what you are now because Philly was the best fit for that type of game.

Paul Pierce is really quiet this off-season. Self-proclaimed greatest player in the league showed without the Big Ticket KG he is what we all knew he was, an average star. If you ask me Mr. He Got Game himself Ray Allen carried Boston in the playoffs, overall. Now with the addition of Mr. I got Warrants Rasheed Wallace the Celtics are a strong contender to knock off the Magic. Yes I said Magic

"LeBrick" James aka Bron Bron is hands down the most gifted player in the NBA but he is not the best player in the league, arguably. The Cavs didn't upgrade the small St. Vincent St. Mary's backcourt so they will have trouble with the Celts and Magic this season. Should be fun to watch the East this year.

Oh almost forgot about the West. Nah I didn't, It's just nothing to talk about until the BK Brawler Ron Artest smacks Kobe in the mouth at practice. Kobe will definitely be inspired by Michael Jordan's HOF induction speech, (anybody who loves basketball should have been inspired) and probably retain his throne on top and the league. Lakers will walk through the West unless the old ass Spurs can stay healthy and Boozer stops asking to be traded from Utah.

Ps...What the hell happen to Stephen A. Smith?? haha

Pound for Pound

Is he the best? Could he have beaten Hagler or Hearns? What about Pernell "sweat pea" Whittaker? Hands down Money May is get his fight on every match but could he have been beaten by some of the greats to fight in the weight classes where he holds titles? No one really knows, kinda how Jordan said he would never call himself the greatest because he never played against Jerry West, Oscars Roberston, and all the legends before him.

But Like MJ wanting to play them all, would Money May really want to fight Joe Louis?....Nah

24/7

With Boxing at a decline only the top fighters are making good money. To be honest I feel a lot of the really good young fighters don't get much publicity or notoriety. But there is one who will always get the cameras rolling.

Floyd "Money" Mayweather has helped the sport of Boxing by more than just winning every fight, he dominates the cameras and reporters. Now with the help of HBO's 24/7 show he talks all the trash he wants and shows how his opponents don't compare, Money wise nor Boxing wise. His opponent this weekend is Juan Manuel Marquez who on the show 24/7 shows a great fighting ability but the show is to promote the fight and no one so far has compared to do that like Mayweather.

The closest anyone has come to competing with Mayweather in the media, not the ring, was Ricky Haddon who sometimes mocked Mayweathers flashy training on the show 24/7. Well, he got his ass kicked.

So maybe others have learned not to mess with Mayweather on the media tip but none will turn down the hefty purse they get for an ass whooping.

I Don't Get It!!

Former Lions first round pick Charles Rogers is an absolute tragedy. This guy was once again arrested, this time for driving while intoxicated, DWI. Now I'm not the smartest man in the world but he was on ESPN a week or so ago, looking high as hell, talking about how he is ready for another shot in the league. This is definitely not going to help him/

Rogers was found on the famous drug riddled 8 mile road in Detroit, Michigan asleep at the wheel in his '03 Mercedes lol.  With the smell of alcohol on his breath he refused to take a breathalyzer and instead was arrested and blood was drawn for sobriety test. Charles they will get you either way haha.

This is just another example of high profile athletes not being able to control the sudden change in lifestyles. In this case it's Rogers is a repeat offender. Get some help man!

Real Talk

The whole Vick thing has gone too far. No doubt about it, America is dog country. I mean the ANIMALS are considered man's best friend.

Now let's get real, before this whole Michael Vick issue, Pitbulls were not considered man's best friend. They are the minorities and woman of the dogs. Treated with lesser value and given less rights for so long. They were considered cruel and malicious animals that are outlawed in many communities. They are vicious animals by nature but no different than a kid who grows knowing nothing better than violence or crime to survive. America treats that human being, minorities, and woman, the same as they do those pitbulls, until... they can use the underlying issue to benefit mainstream America or tear down someone who they have sought after for so long. Mike Vick was never truly accepted by the media or society. 


Regardless of his uncanny athletic ability and skill in one of the toughest positions in sports, he has never been mentioned in the same breath as many of the best quarterbacks in the league although he affects the oppositions game plan just as much if not more than Peyton Manning or Tom Brady with lesser parts.

But, In America we do no harm to animals for pleasure or sport, I thought from hearing all the reports then I thought about my man Barbaro.

Why didn't Barbaro's trainer go to jail for 2 years or lose his multi-million dollar contract after Barbaro had to be put down(killed). But "they say" the horse is born to race, I say the pitbull was born to fight. "They say" the horse would have been in so much pain after racing and having those injuries, that they are putting it out of it's misery, I say "How much pain do you think a dog is in after it fights. Then when you get them real mad, "they say" it's his horse and he can do with it what he pleases" and you know what I say about that!

Is it a racial issue? I think it's a money issue? Horses raise too much money for network television and mainstream society. Mike Vick was doing what most minorities do when they make some money, looking out for his own first. The only people that care for him when everyone else is tearing him down.

I think people who give thousands and millions of Dollars to PETA should go visit the local woman's shelter or any homeless shelter and try to help someone who may help someone else in the future or with a little help could get a job and help our economy.

Baseball Season?

Baseball season is winding down and as of right now is non existant to most sports fans. American League should just start its playoffs tomorrow instead of people not watching baseball at all for another month. I know Joe Mauer and the Twins are chasing its division rivals for a playoff spot but to be honest which ever one gets in will most likely be taking the winter off after the first round anyway. 

In the NL the division leaders are pretty much a lock and the only real chase is for the wild card spot between the Rockies and the Giants. I believe that the MLB should really consider ending the season a month earlier. Then have a Wildcard Series which the top two teams in the wildcard hunt play each other and attempt to get into the playoffs.

We could be enjoying playoff baseball now while warming up to the football season. Just imagine playoff baseball Bo Sox vs Yankees and Phillies vs Dodgers this week and then your favorite football team this Sunday. Instead its another boring week while I sit and wait for NFL Sunday. Just a thought what is your opinion?

So this morning I get a txt from espn alerts saying cornerback Dunta Robinson of Houston Texans was fined 25k for wearing shoes that had the message "Pay Me Rick" on them. Rick Smith is Texans GM.

Wow!! Yes NFL players have the worst contracts in pro sports, but when did acting like a spoil brat stuck in middle school get u paid. I thought Brandon Marshall of the Broncos was a baby lol.

Is it me or does the strong arm of the law forget to use its PEDs (performance enhancing drug) sometimes? Its crazy that we live in a country that has arguably the best justice system by far, but for whatever reason our laws apparently are different when it comes to our pro athletes. Not different in where they are never innocent till proven guilty but different in that some are treated with a slap on the wrist and some a slap in their face.

The phrase says if you do the crime you pay the time but what if the time doesn't match the crime? We all know Michael Vick formally of the Atlanta falcons now with the Philadelphia Eagles serve almost two years in a federal prison for bank rolling a dog fighting "operation". Plaxico Burress former New York Giant is going to prison Sept. 22nd to begin serving a two year term for criminal possession of a weapon. He shot himself in the leg while walking up stairs in a night club..somehow haha. Dante Stallworth of the Cleveland Browns pleaded guilty to DUI MANSLAUGHTER!!!!! this past june and served 24 of a 30 day jail sentence, lost his driving privileges, two year house arrest, and 8 years probation. Can somebody tell me what incident has more legal reprimands because I don't understand the legal process sometimes.

No of these guys made good decisions but Vick fought dogs and had cruel behavior towards them. Plax had a weapon on him for protection other than a bodyguard. Stallworth was high and legally drunk and killed a human being and only served 24 days in jail. Either Vick and Burress need better lawyers or there is something seriously wrong with our justice system. As a nation we pride ourselves on being the best at everything but what happens when we seriously mess up like this?

Sad thing is people want to crucify Vick for playing again and the Eagles for allowing him to but nobody nor the media wants to speak about the unfair situation here. It has to get better or next thing you know baseball players will start pressing charges on each other during bench clearing brawls. Far from happening but close enough to happen.

  Listen! it looks to me like Andy Reid is like a fantasy owner! Or just took over for Jon Gruden as a QB whore! Lets take a small trip back down memory lane. "With the 36th pick in the 2007 draft, the philadelphia eagles select Kevin Kolb from the uninversity of houston." WHY?? At that point they had just released the qb who stepped in for them, went 6-0 or 6-1 and took a dying team to the playoffs!!! Its crazy!! So you release Garcia, you bring this kid in, and say "he is our future" meanwhile, mcnabb is only a 8 year vet!! Go figure! Then, mike vick, becomes available, and they hop on that! hahaha, i sit in the car and listen to fans say rb, wr, sorry guys he is a qb!! Yes he is a freak athlete, but speakin from experience, when u sit out two years it takes a year to get ur timing back! Soooo... ok, he is signed for insurance purposes, maybe trade value down the road. Ok so it makes sense to bring him in. Now at this point you have Mcnabb(starter, all pro vet), Kolb("future" haha), Vick(back up, experiment athlete, former all-pro), and AJ Feeley(career backup shortly after released). Week 1 comes, vick suspended for 3 games, feeley released, u go into the season, with your starter and your future! AWESOME! BUT WAIT, THERES MORE! CRACK!!!!!!! What was that, Donovan Mcnabbs ribs!! And as much as he can try to be a tough guy, if he were smart and in his right mind, he'd sit out till there buccaneers game, the week after the bye, then the raiders after, and be ready for the divisional game against the redskins! makin him hopefully healthy down the home stretch. But guess what?!?! I guarantee he misses maybe one week, or at least tries to play this week, which is stupid! But y! because guess who they signed!!! THERE OLD GIRLFRIEND JEFF GARCIA!! The guy they released after he saved them! The guy they let go, to make room for there "future" hahha thats still funny to me! And then turn around to activate vick! So great, now you have 4 qbs again, three of them former pro bowlers, and the "future" hahaha... who has thrown 45 passes in his career! So, what do you do now?? Kolb cant practice with a clear mind can he? Garcia wants to start so he can go to borgata and people know who he is right? Vick wants to start to show that he still has it right? and its Mcnabbs team right??? I have an easy solution! LET UR FUTURE GO! ITS OBVIOUS HE IS TERRIBLE OR YOU WOULDNT HAVE  ALL THESE QBS ON UR ROSTER! Someone help me make since of this please! and a footnote! Carolina bugged all the way around! they pick up AJ feeley instead of garcia?? that makes no sense! garcia, would be a problem in carolina!!! and make them legit! Monday Night Thrillers..

Monday night football never seems to disappoint. What was suppose to be two lopsided victories for the Patriots and Chargers this monday night turn into a classic opening week thriller. The great return of Tom Brady and the Patriots vs. T.O. and his Bills was all but won for Buffalo. A costly turnover for Buffalo in the ladder minutes of the game allowed Brady to do what he does best and win on a clutch drive. T.O. was more or less held in check by the new lookin patriots Defense.

Monday night cap was suppose to be a wash for the Chargers who came into Oakland to try and make it 12 straight against the Raiders. The Raiders gave a tremendous Defensive effort that reminded most Oakland fans of the great Oakland defenses in 80's. The Chargers had no offensive answer for the raiders Defense till the 4th quarter where they scored two touchdowns. One being the game winning score with less than a minute to go in the game.

If this first week of NFL action is what to expect for the rest of the season then lets do what the Monday Night crew says to do. "Lean Back" and "Play on Playas"

Look for this game to be close start to finished. These teams seem to be evenly matched and the winning team may be decided by who makes the least costly mistakes. Brett Farve got off to an hot start, but has cooled down in the last few weeks. Jay Cutler has improved his play, but the Broncos won all three of their games by last second field goals. Packers win on the road. 24-20.

Eagles @ Vikings: The only reason I picked the Eagles to win is the uninspired play of Tarvaris Jackson and his unfamilar backups Kelly Holcomb & Brooks Bollinger. Eagles win 17-13.

Browns @ Rams: Is this the week when Rams get back on track? NO SIR!!! Browns win 21-16.

Raiders @ Titans: Defensive struggle for sure. Raider win in a upset on the road 9-6.

Bills @ Jets: This game sucks. Bills win 13-10.

Texans @ Chargers: Not sure where the game is going to be played, but it doesn't matter, because the Chargers win big and play inspiredly 34-10.

Jags @ Buccaneers: No Garrad, no chance. Bucs win 20-0.

Redskins @ Patriots: This is an very intriguing matchup which will end in a route. Patriots win 38-14.

Saints @ 49ers: The 49ers are a joke. Sorry Frank Gore, but it's not your time. Saints win 24-12.

Weezy Knows Baseball...!!

After about 7 months of blood, sweat, and tears, the time has finally come for a champion to emerge. Sure, winning their respective leagues was a great accomplishment, but going home without the World Series Championship Trophy makes your season as irrelevant as all of the other teams in baseball. 2nd place is 1st loser, or as Ricky Bobby might say, "If you ain't 1st, you're last." I'm sure we all can relate, when our respective teams make it to the "dance" and don't come home with the goods, who the hell cares about the rest of the season, or that they made it to the "dance," they suck because they didn't win. Maybe my shitty philosophy was bred into me where I grew up, or maybe you agree with me, who knows. The Bo Sox and the Rockies, who will win?

The answer is probably quite obvious, but then again, everyone probably said the same thing when the Marlins faced the Yankees in 2003. Oh, I just forgot, what Marlins pitcher had the greatest affect on that series, Josh Beckett, Marlins pulled off the upset. Well, he's a Red Sox now and he's pitching Game 1, not good news for the Rockies, especially after that long lay-off they had. Talk about jumping into a fire pit, good luck with that Colorado. However, Colorado has a couple of advantages in the series: they are being completely overlooked, almost to a point where it seems as if everyone outside of Colorado is saying the Red Sox might as well go ahead and start playing with themselves, Colorado has "the frozen tundra" of baseball, and they are riding that sick winning streak, 22 games I believe. Do I have to talk about Boston's advantages?

I didn't think so, but who knows, I guess that's why they play them huh? I still got Boston in 5, maybe they'll let it go 6, so they can celebrate in front of their home crowd. I'm sure it'll be about 20 degrees warmer as well. God bless and much love my brothers and sisters.

WHAT THE...

You know, this is supposed to be the time of year when everyone is all fired up about the NFL. The what, what, what? Right now, between college football and the MLB playoffs, which include those pesky pellets of hail called the Colorado Rockies and those 2 monsters lurking in the ALCS in Boston and Cleveland, the last thing going on in my head is the what, what, what. Sure, you'll tell me, college football is on Saturday and baseball is mainly on at late night so what's your point about not watching football? My response to your response is...Where the (bleep) have you been? I could sit here and write so many individual blogs its not even funny, but I have not the time, nor the patience, I wouldn't be able to stay calm just writing about it all.



We will start with yesterday, everyone's marquee match-up was the Pats and the Boys. The final score was no indication of how the actual game was, it was a great game up to the 4th quarter. Who will be able to stop the Pats, circle your calenders for the Indy game, because that's fixing up to be an ol' fashioned slobber knocker. The 2 other stand outs from yesterday were last year's rookie of the year, and barring injury, this year's rookie of the year. Devin Hester and Adrian Peterson went shot for shot yesterday before Minnesota pulled it out with that bomb of a field goal. I would've watched those 2 fly back and forth all day yesterday, but I'm taking Adrian Peterson any day of the week over Devin Hester. I'm not saying Devin Hester isn't the best return man in the history of our game because he is, but Adrian Peterson can run you over, break your ankles, or break one 80 years without being touched, his size and speed is second to none right now. This is early to say, but look out, he quite possibly could be the next "sweetness."



In baseball, the Rockies are one game away from the World Series and who would have thought. This team has won 20 out of their last 21 games, that's unheard of. Maybe a team of destiny? Maybe Eric Byrnes was right, maybe their just "lucky." We we'll find out soon enough. The Tribe goes back to Cleveland with the series tied 1-1 looking to take a 2-1 series lead, maybe a little help from the "Canadian monsters?"



College football, where do I start. Thursday #21 ranked Florida State loses, Friday #16 Hawaii comes back and pulls one out, over a game San Jose State team who lead by 14 early in the 4th Quarter. Then Saturday, after seeing one of the greatest upsets of all time in USC losing, we turn around 1 week later and see the #1 and #2 ranked teams BOTH lose! Are you serious? Each week I pick up the paper and randomly select a top 5 team that's going to lose, this is crazy. The University of South Florida is ranked #2 in the nation, the who is ranked where? So we are down to 3, South Florida, Ohio State, and Boston College. If we look at the remaining schedules for these 3 teams... you know what, it doesn't even matter, the way college football is playing out this year, a high school team might jump up into the schedule somehow and beat 'em. Would you be surprised? At this point I don't think I would be either!!! Someone with one loss is winning the national title this year, my money is still on LSU.



Tonight's game, Byron and the boys are going to jump up and bite the sleeping Giants. Falcons in an upset 27-21. Plus I finally watched "We are Marshall" and I'm all fired up for Byron, that's how I know he'll win. God bless and much my brothers and sisters!

Aroun the World..NBA Preview

CENTRAL DIVISION

CAVS
"Bron-Bron" might have wore a New York Yankees cap at a Cleveland Indians game but I'm sure the Cleveland faithful will give him a free pass if he can get the Cavs back to the Finals this season. It will be a tough task though. The Cavs really didn't add any star power this off-season and decided their core squad from last season will do. Some, Like I, think that is a mistake because it was pretty clear how the Spurs man-handled them in the 2007 NBA Finals. Lebron cannot and doesn't want to do it alone, unlike Kobe. Point guard Daniel "Booby" Gibson has to show that he will be effective all season and his playoff performances were not "flooks". Big Z is aging and every year it shows, so Power Forward Drew Gooden has to play bigger role this season. Larry Hughes needs to flat out earn his paycheck this season...that's it. Bench play for the Cavs is solid and needs to stay consistent to go back to the Finals and repeat as Eastern Conference Champs.

PISTONS
Arguably the best TEAM in basketball over the last 3-4 years, the Detroit pistons are always contenders in the East. Led by floor General Chauncey Billups, the Pistons have the most complete starting five in the NBA. RASHEED WALLACE!!!! is the glue that keeps this team together, with his grit and energy (always looks as if he has warrants out for his arrest) he is flat out un-guardable. They showed that life could go on with out Big Ben (Ben Wallace) and had center by committee with veterans Antonio McDyess and Nazr Mohammed. It will a tough task to stop the one-two punch of Richard Hamilton AKA Reggie Miller Jr. and Tayshaun Prince, the combo last season combined to average over 34-points a game. Rock City is hungry and ready for a second NBA championship in four years.

BULLS
With the possibility of Kobe Bryant ending up in Chicago, Bulls fans hope for a mediocre season. Unless they like the array of young talent on this years roster. GM John Paxon would be a fool not to get Kobe but maybe a bigger fool to break the NBA best crop of young talent. If the Bulls can show the promise they did last season when they knocked off the Heat in they first round of last years playoffs, then the bulls will probably move on without Kobe. Points are not at a premium with "Ballers" Ben Gordon, Kurt Hinrich, and Luol Deng. "Big" Ben Wallace is allowed to wear his headband this season and won't look depressed out on the court anymore. Forwards Tyrus Thomas and Andres Nocioni are vital parts in the teams chemistry as well as back-up guard Chris Duhon AKA Special Teams Captain. Maybe the Bulls get off the hump this season and become true contenders for an Eastern Conference Championships.

CENTRAL DIVISION continued...

BUCKS
Milwaukee Bucks first round pick Yi Jilian almost held out all off-season because he wanted to be on a team in a bigger and better city. Well maybe Milwaukee should have granted him that wish. What was believd as maybe the next Asian born basketball prodigy, Yi Jilian has turned into a difficult project. Great gaurd play from point Mo williams and rifle-man Michael Redd will carry the Bucks for but so long. They need productive bench play from forwards Desmond Mason and Charlie bell and need their bigs Andrew Bogut and Charlie Villanueva, AKA Mr. Albino, to be consistent all season.

PACERS
Who knows if All-Star forward Jermaine O'Neal is still happy in Indiana, but what we do know is he isn't a Laker or a Celtic...he is still a Pacer. With his name in numerous trade talks this past off-season Jermaine has to try and stay healthy and focused for Indy to be successful this year. The point gaurd position will be a crucial peice to this puzzle because there is no real noteable backup to often injured (and sometimes looks drunk on the court) Jammal Tinsley. The Pacers seem young and talented at the forward posititon with Danny Granger but needs sometype of ressurection to Troy Murphy and Mike Dunleavy's careers. Jeff Foster and David Harrison will be the only consistancy in the middle.

Hey Phillies fans I was online today looking into the sports world and seen they are going to chase pitching talent. Then I looked at the names to only realize both of them are on their way down. Give the management credit when it is do both will most likely be in the baseball hall of fame when all is said and done but Im iffy on the situation. The two names are Curt Schilling who all should know and Mariano Rivera.Most would love to have both guys next year but at the same time the team is pretty young and these two are only a temperary fix. Gotta love the two but get someone else that will make a difference for the next 4 or 5 years.

The "fall classic" is now down to 4 teams. There wasn't too much excitement in the Divisional Series', everyone but the Yankees got swept. In our NL Championship series, we have 2 low market teams fighting for the right to represent their respective league in the World Series. Personally, some might feel that it's good for baseball to see teams with such low markets in the World Series, I don't. Luckily, you have 2 monsters going at it in the AL Championship Series. The Sox and The Tribe, this is going to be one hell of a series. I really hope this series goes 6 or 7 games, after all that's the only series everyone is going to be watching. However, it is baseball and anything can happen in October so I guess we'll sit around watch.

What a MNF game last night! Holy Ish, how incredible, how can you not feel bad for the Bills? The CowBOYS, hence the word BOYS, better man up real quick because Moss and the Fella's are coming to DESTROY that secondary. As far as Buffalo, they just have to keep chomping at the bit. Terrance McGee is a man child, not only did he put TO on lock last night, he took that kick back 103 yards... psycho sick. Oh, and I loved Buffalo's uni's too, am I the only one? Another thing, last night's game brought me back to the late 90's, good ol' Therman and Jim, Don Beebe, big Bruce Smith, Cornelius Bennett, and I couldn't forget Andre! I wish I was young again. Sunday's NFL action really didn't bring about any surprises, New England and the Colts both remain undefeated, wow, what a shock! Green Bay lost it's first game to a Chicago team that looks like it may have found it's defense, well at least in the 2nd half it looked like they did. Arizona looks to have lost Matt Leinart for who knows how long, I don't think the Cards care either, they weren't playing him the whole time when he was healthy anyways. New Orleans remained win-less, a bit of a surprise, along with St. Louis and Miami. Speaking of Miami, what a horrific scene it was to see Trent Green being hauled off the field on a stretcher for the 2nd year in a row. Let's just pray for him and his family, that he has a decent recovery; he had a decent career and I'm sure he'll be missed by many.

It's about time San Diego found the end zone, what is going on over there? Norv Turner has the best football player on the planet and he's stinking up the league with his terrible coaching, "uhhh", somebody get me Marty Schottenheimer on the phone. Oh, and tonight's game is said to be a joke, that the Cowboys will run away with this game, but wait just one minute. I got a feeling, because I smell something, oh wait that's just dinner my bad, and I'm hungry as you know what. Just for fun though, I'm taking the Bills, you want to know why, because their circling the wagons brother (and sister).

College Football this year has been beyond incredible. Quite possibly the biggest upset in collegiate sports took place on Saturday when Stanford, a team who not only posted a 1-11 record last year, was also a 41 point underdog, beat one of the greatest college football dynasties of all time in USC. If you would've called me up and told me that was going to happen, I would've said to you if that happens you can tie me to a tree and kick me in the nuts. What man in their right mind would say something like that? Exactly, NONE, but that's the point I'm trying to make. You'd say something like that to be silly, because that's something all of us are sure would never happen. Stanford over USC, part of me still doesn't believe it.

Then you have Florida and LSU, putting on a show for us. LSU might be the funnest team in college football to watch. It's not bad enough the #2 ranked team in the nation lost, Wisconsin, the #5 ranked team in the land, also lost to Illinois. #8 Kentucky was up ended by the 'Ol Ball Coach's boys, #11 ranked South Carolina, to end their undefeated season. #6 South Florida, WHO? What a story they are, and #7 Boston College remain undefeated. It looks as if we may not have an undefeated Champion this year in college Football, just throwing that one out there.

The Rockies sent the Phils packing with their cute little NL East T-Shirts and Hats, the Diamondbacks did same with the Cubs. What a boring NLCS, who wants to watch those teams, honestly? Tonight, Cleveland will try and leave the Bronx without the Yankees. I think the Yankees don't want to go back to Cleveland because of those insects. Did you see those things? I felt like I was watching celebrity fear factor, they were gross! Good luck if they have to go back for game 5, I think the Tribe will do all that it can to end it tonight. Oh, by the way, has that ball Manny Ramirez hit the other night, his walk off home run, did that land yet? What a bomb!! God Bless and much love to all.

Baseball is in full stride this week where the Rockies had to play a must win game just to get in and now possibly sweeping the Phillies. Manny walks off to put the Red Sox up 2-0. Lebron wearing a NY hat to a Cleveland game then NY loses two in a row. Maybe he should have just worn the Indians hat and had his Yankees go up 2-0 and he would have had the best of both worlds. The Diamondbacks are driving Lou Pinella crazy once again with a commanding two games to none lead over the Cubs but now its almost Sunday and we need to get into NFL mode and here is my week 5 picks.

Miami @ Houston
The Dolphins look like they should have kept Duante Clupepper and Im sure the fans are saying the same. They go to 0-5 with another loss to the Texans with Matt Schaub helping his team bounce back from the upset of last week. Texans win 21-10

Jacksonville @ Kansas City
I dont think the Chiefs have what it takes this year and Im not so sure Larry Johnson is running with a passion either. The combo of Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew handle most of the load for Jacksonville and lead the Jags to a victory. Jacksonville wins by two TDs 31-17

Cleveland @ New England
Tom Brady is having a season that is second to none. He is a shoe in for MVP so far this year for me and he has this offense marching up and down the field with ease. If Baltimore put up over 400 yards of offense Cleveland better get ready cause with the weapons the Patriots have its gonna be a long day. Patriots win 41-14

Carolina @ New Orleans
Keyshawn Johnson looks like he was 100% right when he told Dwayne Jarrett to stay at USC and not to go pro cause he wasnt ready now Jarrett is inactive for the 3rd game this year. This game should get the Saints going in the right direction especially after the bye week. Saints win at home 17-13

New York Jets @ New York Giants
Michael Strahan might be teammates with the player that will break his single season sack record. Osi Umenyiora had a half dozen sacks in one game that is amazing but lets see how he follows it up. Giants have been coming on in the past couple of weeks and will continue to look good winning this game. Giants win 24-14

Seattle @ Pittsburgh
Now is when you will see how good of a coach Mike Tomlin really is. Coming off the loss to Arizona to play a Seattle team that is also 3-1 will be a real test. I think he will have this Steelers team well prepared and get off the field with another victory and show he is the real deal like all of the former Pittsburgh coaches were. Steelers win 21-16

Arizona @ St. Louis
The dynamic duo of Matt and Kurt. No it dont sound right but it is working and it has the Cardinals at 2-2 and I believe with all of the offensive injuries the Rams have they will soon be 3-2. Cardinals win 27-6

Detroit @ Washington
Washington had an extra week to prepare for the Lions but this early in the season I dont think that matters to much. Detroit is playing some pretty good football against the not so great teams and this could be a good test for them. I think they continue to look strong this week and beat the Redskins. Lions win 21-17

Atlanta @ Tennessee
With the Titans and QB Vince Young I am not able to bet against him. He is just a winner and thats why I choose the Titans. Titans 21-10

Tampa Bay @ Indianapolis
In this game I think it will be to much of Peyton to all of his weapons. Tampa needs to get their backups at running back to carry quite a load which I dont believe they can do. Colts win 34-17.

San Diego @ Denver
San Diego gets off to a good start and holds off the Broncos. Chargers win 24-13. LT rushes for 150+.

Baltimore @ San Francisco
Baltimore gets there offense to control a little bit more of the clock and the Defense to stay fresh. Ravens win 17-10.

Chicago @ Green Bay
I still dont believe all the hype of the Packers and thats why I believe the Bears stun the 4-0 Pack at home. 20-17 Possibly a last second field goal.

Dallas @ Buffalo
T.O. in the spot light and all of the weapons on Dallas' Offense expect a big game I might even expect a blowout. Dallas 35-13

ATLANTIC DIVISION

CELTICS
KG (Kevin Garnett) is by far the biggest piece to Head coach Doc River's new puzzle, no question. The question is where do the other pieces fit?...Sometimes disgruntled, swing-man Paul Peirce is going to have to adapt to his new TEAM (something he hasn't had since "Cyber Twan"-Antoine Walker left). Ray Allen, A.K.A Mr. He Got Game, A.K.A. Jesus Shuttlesworth, can put it up with the best of them.

Well since there is only one ball to go around during a game the Celtics are faced with a dilema. Who's going to get "The Big Three" the rock?...The Celts gave up last seasons floor general Delonte West in a package deal to the Seattle Supersonics. So now, they have a committee of young guards they will groom to be mainly distributing point guards. Incumbent PG Rajon Rando seems to fit the role the best but will get a little competition from rookie Gabe Pruitt out of USC.

NETS
Superstar Vince Carter re-signed with the team instead of heading south to Orlando...Magic got forward Rashard Lewis cheaper...Point guard Jason Kidd is back for another season and seems revitalized after a stellar performance in the FIBA international tourney. Mr. inconsistent A.K.A. Richard Jefferson will try and stay healthy and on the floor this season pending his isn't already sharing minutes with up and coming forward Antoine Wright.

The one spot the Nets continue to have trouble in, is in the middle at the Center position. They made due when they had Kenyon Martin at the power forward position years ago but since he left to Denver the void in the paint has been obvious. For awhile center Nenad Kristic looked like the answer but he suffered a season ending leg injury last year and it's hard to come back from that type of injury and have an immediate impact. The bench production has to be a lot better for the Nets to contend in the division none-the-less the conference

ATLANTIC DIVISON

A whole season without Allen Iverson...hey whats the worst that could happen? The Sixers have been flirting with contention since they lost the reign of being contenders, when they let the Lakers win 4-straight games to win the NBA Finals back in 2001. With no true star power the sixers are putting a lot of pressure on the young shoulders of guard Andre Igoudala. Point guard Andre Miller will have a whole training camp to get familiar with his teammates and them to him. He could play an intricate part to the Sixers making some noise this season.

Sixers are crowded at a couple positions and used this past NBA draft to add some size on their front line. Rookie of the year CONTENDER (R.O.Y.= Kevin Durant) Thaddeus young will join Rodney Carney and Kyle Korver at the small forward, while Samuel Dalembert anchors the middle. They acquired power forward Reggie Evans this off-season to improve rebounding and energy. Guard Willie Green A.K.A. Mr. Buckets will be the primary bench production for the Sixers .

KNICKS
Marbury wants to finish his basketball career in Italy when his contract is up, Head Coach Isiah Thomas is in question about his commitment to the team, but there is no question in his commitment to Madison Square Garden employees, and big guys Eddie Curry and Zac Randolph have to find away to coexist...because both of them can't eat the up all the buffet's on the road.

All jokes aside the knicks are one of the most talented teams in the East, believe it or not. It's mostly young talent but if Isiah can get a true rotation and pile up his bench with some guards, instead of starting 3 or 4 guards every game, they could scare some teams with their depth. Outside shooting has been a problem for the Knicks and still hasn't been addressed.

RAPTORS
Last year's sleeper in the East will try and prove to NBA critics that they are "fo-real" and make back to back playoff visits. All-Star Forward Chris Bosh has to be the "Beast" he know he can be this season. Point guard T.J. Ford has to stay consistent and play at a high level all season. He needs to make sure role players Andre Bargnani, Anthony Parker, and newly acquired sharp shooter Jason Kapono play their roles.

Bench play is crucial for the Raps. It was evident last season during their playoff series with the Nets, they were not talented at certain positions on the bench. With no true big man once again Toronto has to turn to Rasho Nesterovic to fill the paint, good luck.

BASEBALL RECAP...

Well, the official 2007 MLB Playoffs started off last night, with the Rockies, Angles, Diamondbacks, and Sawks (for all you Boston natives) all coming out victorious. Most experts say winning the first game of a 5 game set is huge, I disagree, However; when you do it on the road that's HUGE. All 4 games were relatively low scoring games, which was a bit of a surprise personally, but there's a lot of baseball left to be played. Then again those low scores are probably a result of each team starting their ace, that would make some sense.

I have one question, has there ever been a pitcher called Mr. October (leave Ruth out of this)? I ask that because Josh Beckett pitched his 5th play-off shut out last night, 5th. This man is on the verge of being invincible in the post-season. He was filthy, disgusting, grossly, NASTY. I'm not even sure if that's a sentence, but that's my point, in the post season, I don't know if Josh Beckett is a human. What he was throwing last night should be outlawed and if he continues to pitch like that, Red Sox fans you better start camping outside of Fenway right now, because you'll definitely be in the World Series.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Lou Pinella I respect you with all of my heart, but didn't you see what happened to the Padres when they held back their ace for another game? Why you pulled Victor at 75 pitches is beyond all of us, but are you really trying to sell the media on "you trust your bullpen?" You're an idiot, excellent job. Let's save him for another game later in the series when you we're fighting to stay alive. Instead of letting him finishing game 1, getting the win, and taking things from there.

If the Phillies first 4 batters continue to go 0-38, with 29 K's, (exaggeration), they'll find themselves in the playoffs the same amount of time they found themselves in first place in the NL East.

Tonight 2 other teams start their bid for the Championship. The Cleveland Indians, the tribe, enter the playoffs not only enter the playoffs with the best record in baseball, but with a very solid pitching staff, and a line-up full up top notch sluggers. The other sticks it's long ugly nose into the playoff race (oh, sorry I was just talking about Joe Torre), with a solid all around team as well, it should be interesting. Enjoy all the action. OCTOBER LOVE...

It's that time of year again, when football takes the backseat for about 2 weeks. Please do not misinterpret me, I am a die hard football fan, but it's October. You begin to shiver a little bit more (I attribute that to our emotional reaction for the upcoming intensity of "THE" sports time of the year), others say it's because of the weather; leaves cover the ground, and like I said, a cornucopia of sports becomes available. As for now however, when you say 'October' I think baseball. 8 teams competing for the best looking trophy in sports, with one team only 11 wins away from becoming the World Champions.

It doesn't get anymore exciting than this, for some reason baseball possess an aura around this time of year. Is it because of all the legends the game has produced? Every sport has produced legends right, but baseball has something special about it. It's not the Super Bowl I know, but in all honesty how special does the Super Bowl feel when you are watching it? We all love those hilarious commercials right, but if there were no hilarious commercials and glamorous concerts, would you watch the Super Bowl? Probably, but I shouldn't have to say probably, it should be a non-hesitant yes.

You might not have watched a lick of baseball all year; but we all find ourselves watching the fall classic, a game with not even 3/4's of the glamour of the Super Bowl. So let's get ready baby (not to steal from one of my idols Dick Vitale); clean the house, call a babysitter, send the women somewheres (no offense ladies), order some pizzas, get out your gear, call over the boys, get ready to get drunk, and you better tell the neighbors it's going to be a long couple of weeks, because it's October brother, America's pastime is in her finest hour . Who wins the West?...Spurs look great but "Timmy" is getting older, Suns are battling with Amare's Knees and Marion's crying, but still have Nash dribbling in circles...T-Mac or Dirk?...Both appeared to be FRAUDS last season. Rockets add Stevie Franchise and Mavs added some "D" by acquiring Trenton Hassell. Doubt if either will get them over the hump.

Sleeper Picks...Jazz were able to tame the warriors last season in the playoffs but wasn't able to retain Derek Fisher. Deron Williams and Boozer won't miss AK-47 (Andre Kirilenko) if he is traded...Warriors are still hung-over from "trashing the Mavs", but B-Diddy (Baron Davis) and Stephen Jackson are "Ballers" for real...Iverson and Anthony are in their first full season and should make some noise. Kenyon Martin can't possibly hurt another knee...you only have two knees Kenyon...The Lake Show is trying to mend fences with Kobe and he is trying to mend with the players. L.A. is nothing without drama but the Lakers were 29-13 before injuries started to deplete their record.

Basement Dwellers...T'Wolves, Sonics, Blazers, Clippers, Kings, and Grizzs' are all out buying pampers for their "youngins". Wolves have no hope with-out KG (Kevin Garnett), Sonics do have Rookie of the Year Kevin Durant, but gave up to much to get him, Blazers...Oden...enough said, Clippers, Kings, and Grizz's go play a scratch off and guest your pick for next years draft.

EASTERN CONFERENCE RUNDOWN

Who wins the East this year?...The new and improved Celtics, The always gritty Pistons, or Can Bron-Bron take the same Cavs' team back to the finals?...Look for Big Ben and the Bulls to make a good run for an Eastern Conference crown, D-Wade is coming off shoulder Surgery and Shaq is being held together with duck tape so the Heat maybe have a chance. The young and surging Magic and Raptors can make some more noise this year and advance past the first round of the playoffs.

Sleeper picks...the Nets are solid, but old, at every position and they get back big guy Nenad Krisrtic, who was lost for all of last season. Hibachi (Gilbert Arenas) is in a contract year for the Wizards and he might drop more "buckets" then wins...Gil stop worrying about Kobe. Chris Paul is the hottest young point guard in the league but he needs help and the Hornets did nothing this off-season. The Bucks are BIG but still lack GREAT guard play, look for them to ease in and out all season.

Basement Dwellers...Sixers, Hawks, Knicks, Bobcats, and Pacers have OUTSIDE shots to play with the big boys in the off-season but have a better chance in winning the Lottery...Literally

WOW Factor!

There isn't to many ways to explain this past weekend in sports. The only word that fits is...WOW!!... It goes from College Football upsets to Major League surprises in Baseball. What more could a sports fan ask for from a weekend...maybe some NBA action.

It started Friday night with a mini-upset in college Football. Then #5 ranked West Virgina took on conference foe #18 South Florida. Now USF beat WVU last season so to some this 21-13 victory by the Bulls of South Florida was expected. The game itself lived up to the hyped it got the week leading up it.

Saturday was a benchmark in the history of collegiate sports. Nine of the AP Top 25 and five of the Top 10 were losers this past weekend. WOW!!....It was pretty exciting to watch these pampered scholarship athletes lose to not so pampered scholarship athletes. In all, College football is a great Pre-Game to a action packed Sunday.

The nations favorite past time gave us a reason to actually watch and ENJOY baseball. The fact that only four teams from each Conference makes the end of a Baseball season more exciting then watching paint dry. The world was able to witness the demise of the Mets and the birth of the Phillies. The Phillies came back from 7 games down in the middle of September to pass the Mets and win the NL East. The Colorado Rockies won 13 of their last 14 games to force a one game playoff against the San Diego Padres..WOW!..MLB fans get ready for Playoff Excitement.

NFL Sunday by far is the most anticipated day of the week and this Sunday was not a disappointment. The Eagles are still looking for an Identity, The Steelers lose to Cardinals and former coach Ken Whisenhunt, Chargers fall to division rival Chiefs, New Browns spank old Browns (Ravens), Bears sit QB Rex Grossman but have same result with a loss to the 3-1 Lions, Falcons surprise old QB Matt Schaub and the Texans, Jets lose to a rookie QB Trent Edwards and the Bills, and 'DA RAIDERSSS!!! and Culpepper show the Phins' who runs Miami by gaining almost 300-yards on the ground.....This sports weekend gets a WOW!!!!
